The Pirogue Crossing by Douglas Fanning

United States

The blades of The Pirogue Series start as solid brass or aluminum bars and are machined to create the individual “pirogue” canoe shape. Long channels are milled on the top and bottom of the blades to conceal the LEDs, and then machined to create the “watery” underside ripples. The brass bars are then finely brushed, heated with a torch and hand patinated to a dark oil rubbed bronze. The aluminum bars are sanded, primed and painted to a specified color.

The Pirogue blades use thinner ¾” x 1 ½” solid material for a lighter “floating” appearance.
Canopy and stem are brushed brass with a clear lacquer finish or painted to match blades.
