Scarab, Atelier d’Amis
How can an armoire resemble a beetle, you wonder? Atelier d’Amis cofounder and creative director Sébastien Léon fashioned Scarab’s gold-metal bars, which stretch from top to bottom and double as handles, with a look that indeed approximates the insect’s twiggy legs and antennae. Furthermore, the doors’ surface decoration–symmetrical silk-screened matter–or gloss-lacquer patterning–mimics the texture and design of the creature’s shell, albeit with an Art Deco twist.
